CHICAGO – A 17-year-old girl has been charged in connection with a string of violent robberies on the CTA Red Line, police said.
Authorities allege the teen was part of a crew responsible for multiple attacks, including the robbery of a 45-year-old man aboard a train near Garfield Station on January 5. Additionally, she is accused of taking part in two separate robberies on September 16—one on a train platform and another on a train itself.
Chicago police confirmed that the suspect now faces three felony counts of robbery and one felony count of aggravated battery. The nature of the attacks has raised concerns about public safety on the city’s transit system.
Commuters and residents have expressed growing fears over crime on public transportation, urging officials to implement stronger security measures. As investigations continue, law enforcement is working to identify and apprehend other potential members of the robbery crew.
