BANNING, Calif. – An 18-year-old woman was arrested over the weekend after allegedly stabbing a teenage boy during a confrontation at a residence in Banning, California.
The incident occurred just before 5:30 a.m. on Sunday, January 26, at a home located on the 1500 block of Altura Place. Initially, police were dispatched after receiving reports of a possible home invasion in the area. However, upon arrival, officers found the teenage boy with multiple stab wounds.
He was quickly transported to a nearby hospital for treatment of injuries that were deemed life-threatening. Despite the severity of his wounds, Banning Police Department Captain Brandon Smith confirmed that the victim is expected to recover.
Following an investigation, authorities determined that the stabbing occurred after an altercation between the victim and the suspect, 18-year-old Eirianna Mariah Zaragoza. Zaragoza called 911 to report the incident herself.
She was arrested without resistance and booked on charges of attempted murder and domestic violence. Zaragoza is currently being held in lieu of $1 million bail.
