A man from Selma, Alabama, found himself in big trouble after a dramatic police chase ended near Winchester Road in Madison County. It all started on Thursday afternoon in Scottsboro when local police tried to pull him over for a traffic stop. But instead of stopping, he hit the gas and took off, leading officers on a high-speed chase.
As the chase crossed into Madison County, more police departments joined in, including the Gurley Police Department, the Madison County Sheriff’s Office, and Huntsville Police. It was a full team effort to track him down.
Eventually, the driver, identified as 24-year-old Lazarus Howard, decided to ditch the car and make a run for it on foot. But that didn’t last long—officers caught up with him and handed him over to the Scottsboro Police Department.
The story gets more concerning when you learn why Howard was being pursued. Authorities say he was following a woman in Scottsboro who had a protective order against him. On top of that, Howard was found with a firearm, which he wasn’t allowed to have.
Now, he’s facing several serious charges. These include possessing a firearm when he wasn’t allowed to, trying to run from the police, third-degree domestic violence assault, and violating the protective order. He’s currently in the Jackson County Jail, and no bond has been set yet.
