Westbrook Man Caught on Security Camera Discussing Neighbor’s Death

James Fowler, a 47-year-old from Westbrook, found himself in deep trouble after police uncovered shocking evidence from his own security camera. The footage, captured in his kitchen, not only recorded his actions but also his chilling phone call about the death of Robert Seger, his girlfriend’s brother.

On the night of November 21, Seger, 59, was rushed to the hospital with severe injuries and later passed away. Fowler, in the video, is heard confessing to his girlfriend, “There’s a good chance I’ll be in trouble,” and even admitting, “This is our fault.”

Fowler told police he had been trying to care for Seger, who, according to him, was beaten by others days earlier. However, neighbors painted a different picture. They reported frequent fights between the two men, and even recalled seeing Seger injured and pleading to be let into Fowler’s apartment the night before his death.

Prosecutors are alleging a pattern of violence, pointing to Fowler’s criminal history, which includes domestic violence. Fowler’s lawyer, however, is pushing back, saying there are gaps in the story that raise doubts about his client’s guilt.

Now facing a charge of depraved indifference murder, Fowler’s trial is set for December 2025. As the case unfolds, the security footage could be the deciding factor in whether Fowler faces up to life in prison or walks free.

This story is far from over, and the truth, it seems, lies hidden in those recorded moments.
