In Omaha, Nebraska, authorities in Douglas County are searching for a 15-year-old boy, Jonathan Salado-Lorenzo, who ran away from his court-ordered placement at Boys Town, a residential facility for young people.
Jonathan’s story stems from a tragic case back in September 2022. At just 13 years old, he was charged with first-degree murder in connection with the death of another teen, 13-year-old Lenny Rodriguez. Eventually, Jonathan’s case was handled in juvenile court, where the charge was reduced to manslaughter. The court sentenced him to probation and placed him at Boys Town in December 2024.
However, on January 2, Jonathan went missing from the facility. Deputies are now actively looking for him.
Jonathan is described as being 5 feet 3 inches tall, weighing about 100 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. Authorities are urging anyone who might know where he is to come forward and share information. If you can help, you’re asked to call the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office tip line at 402-444-6000 or reach out to their Fugitive Warrant Unit at 402-599-2634.
This case has sparked concern in the community, not only because of Jonathan’s disappearance but also due to the heartbreaking events that brought him to this point. The search for him continues, and authorities hope to resolve this situation safely.
