Hendersonville, Tenn. — It was a quiet Sunday afternoon on Vulco Drive, a peaceful neighborhood not used to much police activity. But around noon, everything changed.
Hendersonville Police arrived on the scene to find a tragedy—a 16-year-old teen from Nashville had been shot and killed. The suspect, however, was nowhere to be found.
Hank, a resident of Vulco Drive for three years, shared his experience of that unsettling day. He prefers to stay out of the spotlight and requested not to show his face since the suspect remains at large. Hank spends much of his time outdoors, taking smoke breaks, but Sunday brought a shocking turn of events.
The calm of his familiar surroundings was shattered, replaced with crime scene tape and flashing police lights. Like many of his neighbors, Hank struggled to process what had just happened.
“I had just stepped outside, probably for about a minute and a half, and then I heard it,” Hank said. “Because I’m legally blind, my hearing is really sharp. Even with the football game on inside, I heard the gunshot clear as day. I pulled up my blinds and saw a car speeding away.”
Witnesses in the area believe the tragic shooting stemmed from an argument. What started as a dispute ended with a young life lost. Police confirmed that the suspect has not yet been identified and is still on the run.
Hank admitted the area can sometimes get noisy, especially near where the incident happened. Still, he described the neighborhood as usually peaceful. “It’s generally a calm place,” he added.
Police believe this was an isolated incident, meaning it doesn’t appear to be part of a broader threat to the community. Detectives are working hard to find out who’s responsible for this heartbreaking crime.
This is the first homicide in Hendersonville this year, and local detectives are now faced with the task of solving this tragic case. As neighbors come to grips with what happened, the search for answers continues.
