JD Vance’s Mom Overcomes Health Scare to Attend Inauguration: ‘Nothing Can Hold Me Back!’

Even after a recent health scare, Beverly Aikins, mother of Vice President-elect JD Vance, is determined to stand proudly by her son as he takes the oath of office this Monday. Her resilience and unwavering support for her family shine through every step of her journey.

In late December, Beverly was hospitalized in Kettering, Ohio, just 20 miles from Middletown, the hometown she shares with her son. She experienced heart issues and underwent hernia surgery, a tough hurdle for anyone, but Beverly wasn’t about to let it keep her down.

On Sunday, she shared an update on Facebook, opening up about her recovery and expressing gratitude to her medical team. With pride and a touch of humor, she gave a heartfelt shoutout to JD, writing:

“I must also mention my boy, JD, who investigated and interviewed my surgeon, visited me despite his busy life, and insisted I get the VIP treatment while in the hospital.”

After being discharged on January 9, Beverly has her sights firmly set on attending the inauguration in Washington, D.C. this weekend. Her determination was clear in her post:

“My recovery is slow, but I have an inauguration to attend on January 20. Nothing will stop me from being there.”

Beverly has been a steadfast supporter of JD throughout his political journey, cheering him on at campaign events and making her presence felt. She proudly attended the Republican National Convention in July when JD was announced as President-elect Donald Trump’s running mate. She was also by his side at his first solo vice-presidential rally in Middletown.

But Beverly’s pride doesn’t stop there. At a city council meeting in December, she requested that Middletown honor JD’s achievements with official road signs. The city unveiled those signs on Wednesday, planning to install them after the inauguration—a touching tribute to her son’s accomplishments.

Beverly’s story is one of resilience and love, as is her portrayal by Amy Adams in the 2020 Netflix adaptation of JD’s memoir, “Hillbilly Elegy.”

Despite the challenges, Beverly Aikins is a shining example of a mother’s unwavering determination. She won’t let anything—health issues included—keep her from celebrating this monumental moment in her son’s life.

As for JD, it’s clear his mom’s strength and pride are a big part of his story, too. And when Monday comes, you can bet Beverly will be there, cheering him on like only a mom can.
