CUMBERLAND, Wis. (WEAU) – A disturbing domestic incident in Barron County led to the arrest of a local man early Monday morning.
It all started around 9:30 a.m. when a worried husband called the Cumberland Police Department, asking for a welfare check on his wife. He had been on the phone with her when suddenly, he heard screaming, and the call was abruptly cut off.
Officers quickly reached out to the woman, who revealed that her son, Devin Baldwin, had attacked her. She was badly injured, prompting immediate action. The woman was rushed to the hospital with critical injuries.
As police arrived at the scene, Baldwin was arrested, but not without a struggle. According to the police, he was very combative and had to be restrained multiple times before being taken into custody.
Baldwin is now being held in the Barron County Jail, where he awaits formal charges.
