Bradenton, Fla. – The Bradenton Police Department is searching for a man who they believe caused a deadly hit-and-run accident late Saturday night. They’ve issued a warrant for 28-year-old Julio Torres, who police say fled the scene after the crash.
Here’s what happened: According to police, Torres was driving a black Infiniti sedan when he lost control near the intersection of 15th Street West and 13th Avenue West. His car struck a pole and then hit a 26-year-old man. Instead of stopping to help, Torres reportedly sped away. Tragically, the victim was found dead at the scene.
Police say Torres was driving over the speed limit in the moments leading up to the crash.
While we know the details of what happened, the Bradenton Police Department has not yet shared the name of the victim.
As for the charges Torres faces, they are serious. He’s being accused of vehicular homicide, leaving the scene of a crash involving death, and driving with a suspended license—a repeat offense.
If you have any information about where Torres might be, the police are asking for your help. You can contact Bradenton Police detectives at 941-932-9300. If you’d prefer to stay anonymous, you can also send a tip through Crime Stoppers at manateecrimestoppers.com.
