In a shocking turn of events, Evan Hardman, the gunman accused of fatally shooting Woodland Hills doctor Hamid Mirshojae, pleaded not guilty to murder and additional charges in court this Tuesday. Hardman, 41, from Tomball, Texas, is being held without bail in connection with the tragic killing that occurred on August 23, 2024. Mirshojae, 61, was ambushed outside his clinic in Woodland Hills, California, where he was shot at close range by a masked gunman as he walked to his vehicle.
Authorities have revealed that this murder was part of a gruesome murder-for-hire plot allegedly orchestrated by Dr. Mirshojae’s ex-wife, Ahang Mirshojae, 53, of Calabasas. The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office claims that she hired Hardman, paying him thousands of dollars to eliminate her ex-husband for financial gain. Both Hardman and Ahang Mirshojae are charged with murder, with special circumstance allegations that include lying in wait and murder for financial gain.
The plot thickens as Sarallah Jawed, 26, of Canoga Park, is also involved, facing charges of murder for financial gain. Jawed is believed to have driven Hardman out of state after the shooting, according to prosecutors. In addition to the murder charges, the case includes allegations that Ahang Mirshojae previously attacked Dr. Mirshojae with a baseball bat in May 2024, which Jawed is implicated in.
As of now, all three defendants—Hardman, Ahang Mirshojae, and Jawed—remain behind bars without bail. The case continues to unfold as authorities pursue additional leads. The next court hearings for the accused will take place on March 17, 2025, when a preliminary hearing will determine if there’s enough evidence for the case to proceed to trial.
