Mystery in Buncombe County: Woman Found Dead, Man Faces Drug Trafficking Charges

In Buncombe County, North Carolina, a troubling incident has led to a man facing several serious charges.

Early Thursday morning, around 5:30 a.m., deputies were called to a situation at 1130 Barnardsville Highway. A man in a vehicle was reportedly having trouble breathing. However, before officers could arrive, they were informed that a woman in the same car had passed away.

When deputies got to the scene, they identified the man as 58-year-old Michael Keith Shell. During their investigation, they discovered over 83 grams of methamphetamine in Shell’s possession. Tragically, the woman in the vehicle, later identified as Natasha Marie Sinclair, was confirmed deceased.

Authorities have charged Shell with multiple offenses, including trafficking methamphetamine, possession of drug-related items, and failing to report or conceal a death. Currently, Shell is being held at the Buncombe County Detention Center with a secured bond set at $50,000.

As part of the ongoing investigation, an autopsy is being conducted to determine the cause of Sinclair’s death. For now, officials have not shared further details about the case.
