A Craven County man has been arrested and is now facing multiple drug and firearm-related charges. Authorities identified the suspect as Dennis Wright, Jr., who was taken into custody last week.
Deputies charged Wright with possession of fentanyl, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of a firearm by a felon. The arrest came as part of an investigation into a separate crime when law enforcement discovered that Wright, a convicted felon, was in possession of a firearm.
Following this discovery, deputies obtained a search warrant for Wright’s residence, located outside of Cove City. During the search, they found a small quantity of fentanyl and various drug-related paraphernalia. The evidence collected led to additional charges against Wright.
As a convicted felon, Wright is prohibited from possessing firearms, making this a serious offense. Authorities have not disclosed details regarding the specific circumstances of the initial investigation that led them to Wright. However, they emphasized that removing illegal firearms and dangerous substances like fentanyl from the community remains a top priority.
Following his arrest, Wright was booked into the Craven County Jail, where he is currently being held on a $100,000 secured bond. The case remains under investigation, and law enforcement continues to urge the public to report any suspicious activities related to drugs or illegal firearms to help ensure community safety.
