The Edgecombe County Sheriff’s Office has charged four children, aged 11 to 14, with multiple offenses related to vehicle theft and break-ins. Authorities responded to a report of a possible vehicle break-in in the Forest Hills area of Princeville.
Deputies arrived at the scene and took the four juveniles into custody. During the investigation, law enforcement determined that one vehicle had been stolen, while three others were damaged in attempted thefts. Officials confirmed that the children had tried to steal multiple cars before successfully taking one.
As a result of the investigation, the four juveniles were charged with four counts of breaking and entering a motor vehicle, three counts of attempted larceny of a motor vehicle, one count of larceny of a motor vehicle, and one count of injury to personal property.
After their arrests, the children were released to their parents under deferred detention. Authorities have not released additional details due to the ages of the suspects. The Edgecombe County Sheriff’s Office continues to urge residents to report suspicious activity and take precautions to secure their vehicles to prevent similar incidents.
