Man Arrested After Disturbing Stalking Reports at Popular Park

A man has been arrested after reports of a disturbing stalking incident at Diamond Lakes Regional Park. The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the arrest of 31-year-old Tyrone Bernard Gaynor Jr., who lives on Farrington Drive.

The situation started gaining attention earlier this week when women began sharing concerns on social media about a man following them too closely at the park, making them feel uncomfortable. A Facebook post with a photo of the suspect went viral, and that’s when law enforcement stepped in.

In response to the growing concerns, the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office boosted their presence at the park and launched an investigation. Their efforts paid off on Wednesday around 12:53 p.m. when they spotted Gaynor walking on the park’s track.

One of the women who had encountered the man earlier in the week confirmed to deputies that she had taken the viral Facebook photo. After speaking with her and gathering more evidence, investigators arrested Gaynor.

He’s now facing a misdemeanor stalking charge. Officials haven’t released more details yet, but the increased police presence at Diamond Lakes shows they’re taking this matter seriously and working to keep the community safe.
