Two individuals have been charged in connection with a theft investigation in Graves County, Kentucky. The Graves County Sheriff’s Office initially received reports of thefts at an automotive business located just north of Mayfield during the night. The business owner informed investigators that various auto parts and other items had been stolen from outside the premises.
Surveillance footage captured the suspects taking the stolen items and loading them into the bed of a pickup truck. Following an appeal for public assistance, investigators were able to identify two of the suspects by the afternoon of March 5. Authorities located them at a residence in the Farmington area.
During questioning at the sheriff’s office, both suspects admitted to their involvement in the thefts. A third suspect, who was also seen in the surveillance footage, has been identified, but the investigation into their role is still ongoing.
The sheriff’s office charged 51-year-old Jason L. Jones with theft by unlawful taking of property valued at more than $500. He was transported to an out-of-county detention facility following his arrest. Meanwhile, 39-year-old Misty N. Jones was cited to appear in court but was not taken into custody due to a medical condition.
Investigators determined that the stolen property had already been sold before authorities could recover it. As a result, the stolen items could not be returned to the business owner. The investigation remains active as law enforcement continues efforts to locate the third suspect and determine the full extent of the crime.
