Four teenagers lost their lives in a high-speed car crash in Cleveland, Ohio, involving a stolen vehicle. The accident took place around 12:30 a.m. on Wednesday, March 12, on West 106th Street. Authorities confirmed that the vehicle, a 2014 Hyundai Sonata, had been reported stolen approximately two weeks earlier.
The driver, 18-year-old Eddy Deandre Bonner, was traveling at an extremely high speed when he lost control of the vehicle. Surveillance footage obtained by police showed Bonner attempting to regain control before the car collided with two trees and another vehicle. The impact was severe, and three passengers—19-year-old Caurie Williams, 14-year-old Tamera Davis, and 14-year-old Kalise McGee—were ejected from the car. All four were pronounced dead at the scene.
According to Cleveland Police Chief Annie Todd, no pursuit was involved at the time of the crash. Investigators are still working to determine who originally stole the vehicle on February 27 from the Old Brooklyn neighborhood. Todd emphasized the dangers of reckless driving, noting the devastating consequences of the crash.
In the aftermath, families and friends gathered at the crash site, placing balloons in remembrance of the victims. The tragic loss has left parents and loved ones grieving. Clarissa McGee, the mother of Kalise, shared that her daughter and Tamera were both eighth-grade students at Orchard Pre K-8 STEM School in the Cleveland Metropolitan School District. The district also confirmed that Bonner was a remote high school student.
Sommer Brown, Tamera’s mother, expressed her belief that her daughter was unaware the car was stolen. She stated that Tamera had been with her on February 27, the day the vehicle was taken, and was unlikely to have participated in the theft. She described her daughter as a child with great potential.
Clarissa McGee, still in shock over her loss, said she is struggling to come to terms with the tragedy, especially as Kalise was her only child. The incident has left the families devastated as they try to cope with the unexpected loss of their loved ones.
