Brian Lee Rogers, 52, of Detroit Lakes, has been sentenced for felony third-degree assault after a brutal attack on his elderly roommate left the victim with a partially collapsed lung. The assault occurred on November 24, 2024, at their shared residence.
According to reports, Rogers was heard shouting threats before repeatedly punching the wheelchair-bound man, who later appeared disoriented and suffered severe injuries. Another resident, who tried to intervene, was also attacked and choked.
Rogers, who has prior assault convictions, was sentenced to 18 months in prison, stayed for five years, and 90 days in jail with credit for 60 days served. He was also fined $500 and must complete abuse counseling while remaining on supervised probation.
