Alabama Infant Dies After Seizure—Heartbroken Mother Lands in Jail

An Alabama mother has been taken into custody in connection with the death of her 4-month-old son, according to multiple news sources, including AL.com, WTVM, and the Valley Times-News. Authorities have charged 26-year-old Jamesia Brichae Pruitt with murder following an investigation into the death of her infant son, Nehemiah Pruitt.

The Lanett Police Department reported that on January 25, emergency medical services responded to a 911 call at approximately 1:55 p.m. regarding an infant suffering a seizure at a residence in the Old Jackson Heights Housing Project. First responders transported the baby to East Alabama Medical Center (EAMC) for urgent medical care. Due to the severity of his condition, Nehemiah was later transferred to Children’s of Alabama Hospital, where he succumbed to his condition four days later, on January 29.

Following the infant’s death, authorities launched an investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the case. As part of the inquiry, the child’s body has been sent for an autopsy to establish the cause of death. On February 12, police arrested Pruitt in connection with her son’s death. She is currently in custody while the investigation remains ongoing.
