Arrest Made in Shocking Bolt Drive Homicide That Left Augusta Mourning

In Richmond County, Georgia, a significant development has unfolded regarding a homicide case from earlier this year. Authorities have made an arrest, bringing some closure to a tragic incident that shook the community.

Dominique Beal, a 28-year-old from Augusta, was taken into custody on December 20th. He is now facing serious charges related to a deadly shooting that occurred on Bolt Drive, in the 2000 block, on April 1st, 2024.

The events of that day were alarming. Deputies from the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of gunfire in the area. When they arrived, they found out that someone had already rushed the victim, Makel Jones, to the Augusta University Medical Center (AUMC). Sadly, despite medical efforts, Makel passed away in the early hours of April 2nd, at 12:37 A.M.

Now, Dominique Beal is being held at the Charles B. Webster Detention Center. The charges against him include murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.
