Atlanta Police Nab Suspect After Fatal Shooting on Cheshire Bridge Road

Atlanta police have made an arrest following a tragic shooting that left one person dead early Saturday morning on Cheshire Bridge Road. Here’s what happened:

Officers were called to the scene of a shooting at 2470 Cheshire Bridge Road NE at around 7:52 a.m. on January 18. When they arrived, they found a man who had been shot multiple times. Sadly, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency responders. The area was quickly secured as investigators began piecing together what had happened.

Later that same day, officers from Zone 2 were called to a nearby location, 2350 Cheshire Bridge Road NE, to respond to a criminal trespassing report. When they arrived, one of the officers recognized the man involved in the trespassing as someone they were looking for in connection to the earlier shooting. The suspect, Malik Jones, 29, was taken into custody without any issues. Police also found a gun they believe was used in the crime.

So far, the victim hasn’t been identified, and detectives are still trying to figure out what led to the shooting.

Jones has been taken to police headquarters, where homicide detectives are questioning him. While charges, including murder, are expected, the investigation is still ongoing.
