A drug and gun investigation in Beaufort County led to the arrests of four men following a search of a home near Blounts Creek. The Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office reported that the search took place at a residence on Old Saw Mill Road as part of a month-long investigation into the distribution of fentanyl and methamphetamine in the area.
During the search, law enforcement officers discovered 14-1/2 pounds of crystal methamphetamine, along with fentanyl, marijuana, multiple firearms, and $3,353 in cash. In addition to the drugs and weapons, authorities also seized a stolen all-terrain vehicle (ATV).
One of the individuals arrested was Dennis Clemons, a 48-year-old resident of Brooklyn, New York. He was charged with trafficking methamphetamine and felony conspiracy. Clemons was taken into custody and is being held on a $1,000,000 cash-only bond.
Alan Doyle, a 46-year-old from Blounts Creek, was also arrested and faces multiple charges, including trafficking methamphetamine, trafficking fentanyl, felony conspiracy, felony maintaining a dwelling for the purpose of keeping or selling controlled substances, and possession of a firearm by a felon. He is being held on a $1,000,000 secured bond.
Rodney Townsend, a 53-year-old from New Bern, was charged with felony possession of fentanyl. He was taken into custody and given a $250,000 secured bond.
Another New Bern resident, 42-year-old Matthew Gibble, was also charged with felony possession of fentanyl. Like Townsend, he is being held on a $250,000 secured bond.
The Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the case as they work to combat drug distribution and illegal firearm possession in the region. Authorities encourage residents to report any suspicious activity as part of their ongoing efforts to ensure community safety.
