In Grove City, Ohio, a tragic incident early on New Year’s Day claimed the lives of a local couple, Keith and Joellen Klatt. The heartbreaking accident happened around 1:00 a.m. at the intersection of Alkire and Norton Roads near Bolton Field.
The couple had been in a traffic accident that left their car stranded in the middle of the intersection. Keith, 56, and Joellen, 53, stepped out of their vehicle, likely trying to assess the situation. That’s when a pick-up truck slammed into their car with such force that its airbags deployed, shoving the car out of the intersection. Tragically, the truck also struck the Klatts, killing them both.
The driver of the pick-up has been identified in a traffic report, but no charges have been filed yet. Police believe alcohol may have played a role in the accident. The case is now in the hands of the prosecutor’s office, and felony charges are expected to follow.
Keith Klatt worked in the insurance industry, while Joellen, lovingly known as Joey, was employed at Chase Bank. Together, they leave behind two adult sons and the joy of knowing they were soon to welcome a grandchild.
The entire community is grieving this unimaginable loss. As authorities continue to investigate, many are left reflecting on the lives of Keith and Joellen and the profound sadness of losing them so suddenly.
