Bryan Lewis has been charged with assault with a deadly weapon with the intent to kill after allegedly stabbing his brother on Tuesday, according to Craven County deputies. Authorities stated that the incident took place at Lewis’ residence on Old Pollocksville Road, located outside of New Bern.
According to arrest warrants, Lewis used a knife to stab his brother, Major Lewis, in the abdomen. Deputies responded to the scene and found the victim, who was subsequently transported to CarolinaEast Medical Center for treatment. Medical officials confirmed that his injuries were non-life-threatening.
The circumstances leading up to the altercation have not been disclosed, and authorities have not provided information on what may have prompted the attack. Law enforcement officials have not indicated whether there was any prior history of conflict between the two brothers.
Following the incident, the 66-year-old suspect was taken into custody and booked into jail. His bond was set at $75,000. Bryan Lewis is scheduled to appear in court on May 9. The investigation remains ongoing as authorities work to determine further details regarding the case.
