It’s no secret that big changes are coming with President-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration on Jan. 20. According to Wyoming Senator John Barrasso, Americans should expect a flurry of action—what he calls “a blizzard of executive orders”—right out of the gate.
Speaking on CBS’s Face the Nation, Barrasso painted a picture of Trump hitting the ground running. “When President Trump takes office next Monday, there is going to be shock and awe with executive orders,” he said. “A blizzard of executive orders on the economy, as well as on the border.”
What’s an Executive Order Anyway?
Think of it as the president making decisions that don’t require a green light from Congress. It’s a powerful tool, and Trump is gearing up to use it to make some immediate waves. But that’s not all. Barrasso, who recently became the Senate majority whip, says Trump also plans to team up with Congress, especially with Republicans holding slim majorities in both the Senate and the House.
Teamwork Is Key
Barrasso shared a behind-the-scenes moment from a recent meeting with Trump. “The No. 1 priority for the Senate, according to President Trump, is to get his team in place,” Barrasso explained. “I’ve met with just about all of his nominees, and I fully support them. My job is to make sure they get approved and start working as soon as possible. President Trump deserves to have his team ready early on.”
Results, Results, Results
When it comes to making his agenda a reality, Trump’s focus is crystal clear: it’s all about the outcome. Legislation? Sure, but the number of bills isn’t what matters most to him. “President Trump says he doesn’t care if it’s one bill, two bills, or three. He wants the results,” Barrasso noted.
The Bottom Line
The stage is set for a whirlwind of activity as Trump steps into office. Whether it’s through executive orders or legislation, one thing is certain—he’s ready to make waves and shake up the status quo. Buckle up; it’s going to be an interesting ride!
