Police in Lyon County, Kentucky, are investigating a residential burglary that took place early Sunday morning. According to the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office, Deputy Shannon Oliver was dispatched at approximately 2:51 a.m. on February 23 to a home in Kuttawa following reports of a burglary in progress.
When law enforcement arrived at the scene, the suspect had already fled. Authorities stated that the suspect forcibly entered the home by kicking in the front door. A family of four was inside the residence at the time of the break-in. One individual sustained a minor injury due to the forceful entry, though medical treatment was not required.
Deputies spent the day interviewing potential witnesses and gathering evidence, ultimately identifying a suspect who resides outside of Lyon County. However, despite efforts to locate the individual on Sunday afternoon, no arrest was made. Law enforcement officials confirmed that there is no known connection between the suspect and the victims.
The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office announced that a criminal complaint will be filed in District Court, formally charging the suspect with second-degree burglary. The investigation remains ongoing in collaboration with the Western Kentucky Violent Crime Task Force.
Authorities stated that the suspect’s name will be publicly released once a warrant is issued by the court or if the individual is taken into custody. Law enforcement continues efforts to locate the suspect while urging residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity that could assist in the investigation.
