California Mom and Her Teen Son Found Dead at Home by Daughter Just Days Before Christmas

Police in California are searching for a man they believe killed a mother and her teenage son in Stockton just days before Christmas.

Alicia Montejano, 43, and her 19-year-old son Reuel Huerta were found dead in their home on Monday, December 23. Stockton police say the suspect, 38-year-old Julio Ceasar Valdez, is on the run and considered a fugitive.

Family members identified the victims, even though police haven’t officially released their names. A GoFundMe page and local news outlets like ABC 10 and KCRA reported their identities, with KCRA citing the San Joaquin County Medical Examiner’s Office.

According to Montejano’s daughter, Marisa Vigil, Valdez was her mother’s boyfriend. Authorities suspect the incident was domestic violence-related.

Vigil said she became worried after not hearing from her mom all day Monday. When she went to check on them, she made the heartbreaking discovery—both her mother and brother were dead inside the home. She immediately called 911.

Police later revealed that Reuel had lacerations on his body and a weapon was found at the scene.

Family and friends are remembering Alicia and Reuel for the happiness they brought to those around them. The GoFundMe describes their bond as “unbreakable.”

On Christmas Eve, Vigil spoke at a memorial event, asking the community to help track down Valdez. “Please don’t forget about them,” she said, holding back tears.

Authorities are offering cash rewards for tips that lead to Valdez’s capture. Anyone with information can contact Stockton Crime Stoppers at 209-946-0600, submit tips online at StocktonCrimeStoppers.org, or use the P3 Tips mobile app to stay anonymous.
