Police in California are searching for a man they suspect is behind the brutal deaths of a mother and her teenage son in Stockton.
On December 23, Alicia Montejano, 43, and her 19-year-old son, Reuel Huerta, were tragically found dead in their home. While the police did not initially release their names, family members and news outlets have since confirmed their identities.
Authorities believe the murder was domestic in nature and have named Julio Ceasar Valdez, 38, as the primary suspect. Sadly, Valdez is still on the run, and police are urging the public to help track him down. A family member told reporters that Valdez had been dating Montejano, which suggests a deeper connection to the crime.
The heartbreaking discovery was made by Montejano’s daughter, Marisa Vigil, who grew worried when she couldn’t reach her mother. After checking the house, she found the bodies of her mother and brother, prompting a call to 911.
Reuel’s body showed signs of violence, and a weapon was found at the scene, adding to the grim reality of the situation.
Family and friends have set up a GoFundMe page to honor the victims, describing them as people who “brought joy to all those around them.” A memorial is planned for Christmas Eve, where Vigil made a heartfelt plea to the community for help in catching the suspect.
