Campus Scare: Student Charged with Making Terrorist Threat

An 18-year-old high school student in Zalma has been taken into custody following allegations of making a threat against another student. The Bollinger County Sheriff’s Office reported that on Tuesday, March 25, at approximately 9:20 p.m., a parent of a Zalma R-V school student contacted authorities regarding a potential threat made by another student at the school.

Law enforcement officials, working in coordination with school administrators, conducted an investigation into the matter. The suspect was identified as Jared Linan, a resident of Gipsy, Missouri. Following the investigation, Linan was arrested on Wednesday, March 26, and was subsequently charged with one count of second-degree terrorist threat, classified as a Class E felony under Missouri law. He is currently being held at the Bollinger County Jail with a cash-only bond set at $25,000.

According to a criminal complaint, Linan allegedly made a verbal threat stating his intention to “shoot up” the school. However, authorities have stated that the threat was directed specifically at one student and did not pose a broader risk to other students or staff members. Sheriff Casey Graham emphasized in a statement that this was an isolated incident and that school safety measures remain in place.
