Cedar Rapids Man Arrested After High-Speed Pursuit

A Cedar Rapids man found himself in serious trouble after a wild car chase early Tuesday morning.

John Joseph Jackson, 25, is facing several charges, including 1st Degree Harassment, Eluding, Reckless Driving, and other traffic violations.

It all started when deputies were called to a harassment complaint in Covington, where Jackson was reportedly threatening a family and allegedly had a firearm with him. As the night unfolded, Jackson’s vehicle was spotted around 9:30 p.m. at Stoney Point Road and E Avenue NW, but instead of stopping, Jackson sped off, leaving officers in pursuit.

What followed was a high-speed chase—Jackson raced down Stoney Point at over 100 MPH, zigzagging through different roads, including Covington Road, Highway 100, and I-380. The chase ended when Jackson was last seen exiting onto Highway 100.

At around 1:30 a.m., authorities found Jackson back at his home, where he was arrested without any resistance. Thankfully, no one was injured and there was no damage to property during the pursuit.
