A convicted felon in Lenoir County, North Carolina, has been taken into custody after reportedly assaulting two deputies during an arrest related to domestic violence involving a pregnant woman and her children. The Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that 50-year-old Stacy Kinsey was arrested on Tyree Road earlier in the morning.
Authorities were called to the scene after reports that Kinsey was standing unclothed outside a home, making threats against a woman and her children, who were later identified as his own. Investigators determined that Kinsey had entered two other nearby residences without permission before deputies arrived.
When law enforcement attempted to take Kinsey into custody, he allegedly attacked two deputies, striking them in the head with a closed fist. A civilian intervened and assisted the deputies in subduing and arresting Kinsey. The injured deputies were transported to a hospital, where they received medical treatment before being released.
Further investigation revealed that Kinsey had confined the pregnant woman and her children against their will inside a home while threatening them with a firearm. The woman was able to escape and sought help from a neighbor, prompting Kinsey to enter multiple homes in an attempt to locate her. Deputies recovered the firearm used in the incident and confirmed that Kinsey had a prior felony record.
Kinsey now faces multiple charges, including first-degree kidnapping, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and assault on law enforcement officers inflicting physical injury. Additional charges include resisting a public officer, committing domestic violence, battery of an unborn child, and assault by pointing a gun. He also faces a misdemeanor charge of breaking and entering.
Due to being out on pretrial release, Kinsey was denied bond, and authorities have indicated that further charges may be forthcoming. Sheriff Jackie Rogers emphasized that his office would not tolerate violence against law enforcement officers and expressed appreciation for the civilian who assisted in the arrest. He reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring that individuals who assault deputies are prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
