A man has been arrested after allegedly attacking two police officers inside a Manhattan subway station.
The suspect, identified as 35-year-old Corinthian Hills, was taken into custody on Wednesday, according to a statement from the NYPD. The whole thing went down just before 3 p.m. at the West 4th Street station, where officers were doing a routine check.
According to police, Hills was causing a disturbance on the northbound platform for the A, C, and E trains. He was reportedly drinking wine straight from a glass bottle when officers approached him. But instead of cooperating, things took a violent turn.
As the officers tried to talk to him, Hills allegedly smashed the bottle and used the broken glass to slash one of them in the hand. When they moved in to arrest him, he fought back—and even bit another officer on the leg, authorities said.
Despite the struggle, officers managed to get him under control. Hills was then taken to Bellevue Hospital for an evaluation, while both officers were treated at a nearby hospital. Fortunately, they were in stable condition.
Hills is now facing a long list of charges, including two counts of second-degree assault, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, and obstruction of governmental administration.
It’s unclear if he has an attorney at this time.
