A late-night argument over cold fries turned into a shocking shooting at a Wendy’s in Louisville, Kentucky. The bizarre incident happened on January 6, when 25-year-old Monjah D. James-Wooten allegedly confronted an employee after becoming upset about the temperature of his fries.
What started as an argument in the drive-thru quickly escalated, according to Louisville Metro Police. James-Wooten and the group he was with began firing multiple shots at the employee, as detailed in a police report. The situation took an even wilder turn when the employee, instead of backing down, pulled out their own gun and returned fire.
According to authorities, James-Wooten and his group didn’t stop there. They went inside the Wendy’s, where James-Wooten allegedly pulled out his firearm and fired a shot. The employee, trying to defend themselves, fired back. In the exchange, one of the bullets fired by James-Wooten hit the employee in the buttocks.
The group fled the scene before police arrived, but the entire ordeal was captured on video surveillance. The injured employee was rushed to the hospital and treated for their injuries.
The following day, a twist in the case emerged when one of James-Wooten’s codefendants, who was also in the group, contacted police to report that she had been shot. During questioning, she admitted to being at the Wendy’s during the incident and said James-Wooten was responsible for shooting her.
After a brief search, James-Wooten turned himself in to authorities on Friday. He’s now in custody at Louisville Metro Corrections with bail set at $50,000. Court records show he’s scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday.
This chaotic episode, sparked by an argument over something as small as cold fries, highlights how quickly tempers can spiral out of control. Luckily, no lives were lost in the incident, but it left a trail of violence that could have been avoided.
