Onslow County Man Arrested for Child Sex Crimes from 2019
ONSLOW COUNTY, N.C. – A Hubert man has been arrested and charged with multiple child sex crimes related to incidents that reportedly took place more than five years ago.
According to the Onslow County Sheriff’s Office, the investigation began on October 29th when deputies received a report from Onslow County Department of Social Services (DSS). The report stated that a child had come forward with allegations of sexual abuse involving Preston Hall, which allegedly occurred in 2019.
Following the report, the Onslow County Special Victims Unit conducted an in-depth investigation, including forensic interviews and evidence collection. Authorities say the findings corroborated the victim’s account of the abuse.
At the time of the alleged crime, Hall was 19 years old. Based on the investigation, warrants were issued for his arrest. On Wednesday, deputies took Hall into custody and formally charged him with felony indecent liberties with children and felony statutory sexual offense with a child as an adult.
The charges reflect the severity of the allegations, as both offenses involve sexual misconduct against a minor. Felony indecent liberties with children is a charge commonly applied when an adult engages in inappropriate or unlawful sexual behavior with a child. A felony statutory sexual offense with a child as an adult is a more serious charge that involves illegal sexual contact between an adult and a minor.
Following his arrest, Hall was booked into the Onslow County Jail. Due to the nature of the charges, he is being held without bond.
Authorities have not released additional details about the case, including the exact age of the victim at the time of the alleged offenses. The investigation remains ongoing, and officials encourage anyone with relevant information to contact the Onslow County Sheriff’s Office.
Cases involving child sexual offenses are handled with extreme caution and thorough investigation to ensure the safety and well-being of victims. Law enforcement urges individuals who have experienced or witnessed abuse to report such incidents to authorities immediately.
