Last Thursday, Lenoir County deputies observed a suspicious vehicle parked outside an unoccupied home on Eason Road near La Grange. Upon further investigation, they determined that a break-in was taking place. Three individuals were arrested at the scene: 68-year-old David Hardy, 70-year-old Michael Hardy, and 26-year-old Desiree Mooring. All three were charged with multiple offenses related to the break-in, and authorities found that David Hardy and Mooring had outstanding warrants in both Lenoir County and Greene County.
David Hardy was charged with felony breaking and entering, felony larceny after breaking and entering, and felony possession of stolen property. He also had an outstanding warrant for a traffic violation in Greene County. He was booked into the Lenoir County Jail under a $10,500 secured bond.
Desiree Mooring faced charges of felony breaking and entering, felony larceny after breaking and entering, and felony possession of stolen property. She also had outstanding warrants for possession of methamphetamine, misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia, and misdemeanor simple possession of a Schedule IV controlled substance. Mooring was transported to the Lenoir County Jail, where she was given a $5,000 secured bond for the outstanding warrants. However, authorities stated that she was held without bond for the new felony charges.
Michael Hardy was also charged with felony breaking and entering, felony larceny after breaking and entering, and felony possession of stolen property. He was booked into the Lenoir County Jail with a $10,000 secured bond.
Law enforcement officials continue to investigate the break-in and any possible links to other crimes in the area. Authorities urge residents to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activity to help prevent further incidents.
