Elizabeth City police are actively investigating a series of vehicle break-ins that occurred early Saturday morning at two apartment complexes. Officers were first dispatched to Betsy Town Flats Apartments, located at 300 East Elizabeth Street, just before 5:00 a.m. Upon arrival, they discovered multiple vehicles in the rear parking lot with shattered windows. Around the same time, police responded to a similar report at Tanglewood Lake Apartments at 3895 Waterside Drive.
Authorities report that approximately 32 vehicles sustained damage between the two locations. An undetermined number of personal belongings were stolen from some of the vehicles. Investigators are working to determine the full extent of the thefts and damages.
Law enforcement officials believe a specific vehicle may have been involved in the break-ins. They are currently reviewing surveillance footage and gathering evidence to identify potential suspects. Police are urging residents in the area to check their security cameras for any suspicious activity that might assist in the investigation.
