A Tennessee woman is facing serious charges after allegedly stabbing the father of her child during a heated custody exchange. Her mug shot, taken after the arrest, shows her looking surprisingly unfazed.
The woman, identified as 25-year-old Justyce Knowles, was arrested and booked into the Shelby County Jail in Memphis, Tennessee, on December 24. The charges stem from an incident earlier in the month, on December 4, where she allegedly attacked her child’s father during a custody handoff.
Court documents reveal that Knowles is charged with aggravated assault and for using a knife during the altercation. She was held on a $15,000 bond, which she posted the day after her arrest on December 25.
According to the details, the custody exchange took place at the home of the man’s mother in Memphis. The father, referred to in the documents as “Walker,” and Knowles reportedly got into a heated argument that quickly escalated into a physical fight outside the house. At one point, Knowles walked away from the confrontation, but then she allegedly came back armed with a knife and attacked Walker. He sustained injuries to his hands and neck during the altercation.
Fortunately, Walker’s injuries weren’t life-threatening, but he was taken to Regional One Health Medical Center for treatment. He later identified Knowles as the person responsible for the attack. It’s unclear where their child was during the incident.
The man’s mother witnessed the altercation and called the police to report what had happened.
After posting her bond, Knowles was released from jail. She is scheduled to appear in court on December 27 to address the charges.
