A Southwest Miami-Dade property owner is reeling after a group of individuals broke into his farm and carried out a disturbing crime. Surveillance footage captured the group entering the farm, located near Southwest 196th Street and 207th Avenue, sometime between midnight and 2 a.m. on Wednesday.
In the footage, one of the suspects is seen tampering with security cameras, moving them into the bushes to avoid being detected. The group then proceeded to steal approximately 300 birds from their cages. The theft left the farm owner devastated, as the birds were a significant part of his livelihood.
The situation took a darker turn when it was discovered that the criminals also shot and killed four of the owner’s dogs. It is believed the dogs were shot in an effort to silence them and prevent them from alerting anyone to the intrusion. The loss of the animals has left the property owner deeply upset.
The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office has confirmed that they are investigating the incident and are working to identify the suspects involved. The authorities have urged the public to come forward with any information related to the crime. Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information that leads to an arrest. Individuals can remain anonymous when providing tips by calling 305-471-TIPS.
