In Savannah, Georgia, police are on the lookout for two individuals accused of using a clever disguise to commit a home invasion. The incident happened around 8 a.m. on January 11 on Price Street in Savannah’s downtown area.
According to investigators, the victim, 66-year-old bartender Dirk Hardison, heard a knock at his door that morning. When he looked outside, he saw two men dressed like Amazon delivery drivers. One even held a package, making it all seem legitimate. Trusting what he saw, Hardison opened the door, only to have the two men force their way inside.
Once inside, the suspects reportedly attacked Hardison, hitting him on the head. Thankfully, he was taken to the hospital and is expected to recover from his injuries.
Police have shared surveillance footage showing the two suspects wearing jackets resembling those worn by Amazon employees. While the disguises were convincing, authorities believe this wasn’t a random act but rather a planned crime targeting Hardison.
Savannah Mayor Van Johnson spoke about the incident during a press conference, offering advice to residents. He urged people to stay cautious, saying, “You should never open the door for folks that you don’t know. Don’t accept deliveries for things you’re not expecting. And if you’re unsure, keep the door closed and call the police.”
As of now, police have not identified the suspects, but the investigation is ongoing. This incident serves as a reminder to stay alert and cautious, even when things appear routine.
