A wild police chase in Dallas took a tragic turn on Friday, ending with a man dead after crashing a car. The vehicle had a stolen license plate, and the driver was allegedly trying to escape from police after a series of reckless actions.

It all started just before 1 p.m. when Dallas officers spotted a car with a stolen license plate on West Camp Wisdom Road. When they tried to stop the driver, the man backed into a patrol vehicle before speeding away. Though officers didn’t chase him at first, their helicopter kept an eye on him from above.

As the suspect continued to drive, he deliberately crashed into another car, prompting police to begin the chase. Things quickly escalated as the driver started shooting at officers. Luckily, no officers were injured, and none of them returned fire during the pursuit.

The chase ended when the driver crashed the vehicle at Second Avenue and Metropolitan Avenue. A passenger in the car jumped out and was quickly arrested. But the driver, who never got out of the vehicle, was found with injuries. Police later confirmed that he died from what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

While the names of both the driver and the passenger haven’t been released, this tragic incident serves as a reminder of the risks officers face during dangerous situations.

Stay tuned for updates as the investigation continues.
