Two drivers were injured in a late-night crash involving a semi-truck and a snow plow on I-380 just north of I-80 in Johnson County.
According to Iowa State Patrol, the incident occurred late Thursday night when a snow plow, which was laying down solid material on the roadway, was merging onto northbound I-380 from I-80. At the same time, a semi-truck was already traveling northbound on the interstate. For reasons yet to be determined, the vehicles collided and spun out. During this maneuver, they also made contact with a pickup truck traveling in the area.
The driver of the semi and the operator of the snow plow each suffered non-serious injuries. Fortunately, the driver of the pickup truck escaped unharmed.
Emergency crews responded swiftly, and both injured drivers were treated at nearby medical facilities. Thankfully, their injuries were not life-threatening.
The crash remains under investigation by the Iowa State Patrol to determine the exact cause of the collision and how it could have been avoided. Motorists are reminded to exercise caution during adverse weather conditions and to remain vigilant on the road.
This serves as a critical reminder of the dangers posed by icy and snowy conditions, especially during late-night travel.
