Edenton Man Arrested in Lenoir County on Drug Charges
LENOIR COUNTY, N.C. – Law enforcement officials in Lenoir County arrested an Edenton man after a traffic stop on Saturday led to the discovery of illegal substances.
According to the Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office, 26-year-old Niquae Powell was taken into custody after deputies pulled over his vehicle on C.F. Harvey Parkway. During the stop, a search of the vehicle was conducted, leading to the discovery of cocaine and marijuana. Authorities stated that the amount of drugs found, along with weighing and packaging materials, indicated an intent to distribute at the street level.
As a result of the investigation, Powell was charged with multiple drug-related offenses. The charges include felony possession with intent to sell or deliver a Schedule II controlled substance, felony possession with intent to sell or deliver a Schedule VI controlled substance, felony maintaining a vehicle for the sale or delivery of a controlled substance, and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.
Powell was booked into jail without bond due to his existing legal circumstances. Authorities revealed that at the time of his arrest, Powell was already out on bond for other charges. Given this status, law enforcement determined that he would remain in custody without the option for release.

Officials emphasized the importance of proactive enforcement to keep illegal substances off the streets. This arrest is part of broader efforts by local law enforcement to combat drug distribution and related crimes.
