Evansville Woman Arrested for Theft and Burglary After Breaking Into Local Business

In a shocking turn of events, an Evansville woman has been arrested for theft and burglary in Posey County. Here’s what happened:

On Thursday, Posey County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a break-in at Whackerz, a business that specializes in golf simulations. Upon investigation, deputies found broken glass and a few missing items. Surveillance footage quickly revealed the culprit: a woman smashing a window to gain entry into the store.

That woman was later identified as Jessica Jeanette Guth. In the footage, she was seen stealing a computer and several golf clubs. Deputies also spotted Guth arriving in a black car, which helped them track down her vehicle.

Just one day later, deputies were called to a business across the street from Whackerz after a truck was reported stolen the previous night. It wasn’t long before authorities connected this theft to the break-in at Whackerz.

Deputies quickly put their plan into action and stopped a car on State Road 66 in Wadesville that matched the description from the surveillance video. Upon searching the vehicle, they found the stolen computer hidden in the trunk.

The investigation didn’t stop there. Deputies soon uncovered more stolen items — several sets of golf clubs — at a nearby residence, all taken from Whackerz.

When brought in for questioning, Guth admitted to the crime. She was arrested and booked into the Posey County Jail on multiple charges:

  • Burglary (Level 5 Felony)
  • Theft (Level 6 Felony)
  • Theft (A Misdemeanor)
  • Trespassing (Class A Misdemeanor)

Guth’s quick arrest and the recovery of stolen items serve as a reminder that crime doesn’t go unnoticed for long, especially with keen investigation and surveillance.
