A high-speed chase in Fond du Lac County ended with three individuals in custody on Sunday, January 26, following a 33-mile pursuit. The incident unfolded around 4:56 p.m. when an automated license plate reader flagged a vehicle suspected of retail theft entering the county on I-41 from Dodge County.
Authorities attempted a routine traffic stop, but the driver, a 36-year-old woman from Vermont, quickly accelerated and fled, prompting a high-speed pursuit by deputies. After a tense chase, officers apprehended all three occupants without incident.
The driver faces multiple charges, including felony fleeing/eluding, first-degree recklessly endangering safety, possession of THC, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Additionally, she had an outstanding warrant from New Hampshire, although it isn’t valid in Wisconsin.
The front-seat passenger, a 40-year-old man from Pennsylvania, was charged with possession of THC, possession of drug paraphernalia, and resisting/obstructing law enforcement. He had several warrants out for his arrest from Vermont, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey, but, like the driver, they are not enforceable in Wisconsin.
The rear-seat passenger, a 41-year-old man from Vermont, faces charges of possession of cocaine, possession of drug paraphernalia, and resisting/obstructing.
Though the suspect vehicle was damaged by a tire deflation device, there were no injuries reported, and no additional damage occurred during the pursuit. The arrests highlight the ongoing efforts of local law enforcement to apprehend suspects involved in criminal activity, despite the challenges of interstate warrants and high-speed pursuits.
