Father of Four Fatally Shot, Girlfriend Brutally Beaten Over Driveway Dispute

A tragic altercation over a parking space led to the fatal shooting of a father of four and the severe beating of his fiancée in the Bronx.

On Saturday, February 8, at approximately 2 a.m., officers responded to a 911 call on Fowler Avenue. They discovered 49-year-old Trevor Hughes lying on the ground with a gunshot wound to his abdomen. Hughes was rushed to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Hughes’ 47-year-old fiancée, whose name has not been disclosed, was also violently attacked. According to a criminal complaint obtained by the Daily News, she suffered multiple facial fractures, including a fractured orbital bone, a broken nose, and several broken teeth. Authorities identified her attacker as Fallon Wise, 41.

The incident reportedly began when Hughes returned home from work and found a vehicle blocking his paid parking space. The New York Post reports that the car belonged to 46-year-old Lavar Davis. Hughes initially attempted to resolve the situation by calling 311 and notifying the local police precinct. However, an altercation ensued, resulting in Hughes’ fatal shooting and his fiancée’s severe beating.

Later that evening, police arrested Davis and charged him with second-degree murder. Wise was also taken into custody and charged with assault and harassment, according to online court records.

Hughes’ brother, who chose to remain anonymous, expressed his family’s devastation, emphasizing that Hughes followed proper procedures to have the vehicle removed before the situation escalated. “It was all over a parking space,” he told The Post, calling the violence senseless.

Hughes was known as a hardworking man, juggling roles as a locksmith, handyman, and DJ under the name “DJ Dread.” He was regarded as a beloved community member who used music to bring people together. The National Latino Peace Officers Association’s Bronx chapter paid tribute to Hughes, describing him as “a cornerstone of our community.”

Hughes leaves behind four daughters, two in high school and two in their twenties. His brother urged the community to support his nieces as they cope with the tragic loss of their father.

Davis, who was on lifetime parole, previously served over 24 years in Attica Correctional Facility for a murder conviction in Schenectady. He was released in 2019 and had a history of assault charges.

It remains unclear if Davis or Wise have legal representation at this time.
