Months after a hit-and-run incident that left a man severely injured, a Florida woman has been arrested and appeared in court to face charges.
Tydaijah Murray, 29, was taken into custody on Thursday and brought before a judge the next day. She is facing charges for leaving the scene of a crash, failing to stop at the accident site, driving with a suspended license, and resisting arrest. The crash happened on August 11 in the Broward County area when Eugene Arsirii, a hairdresser who had recently moved to the community, was helping another driver push a disabled vehicle off the road.
While in the middle of this kind gesture, Arsirii and two others were struck by a car from behind. Authorities say the driver was Murray. Arsirii suffered devastating injuries, ultimately leading to the amputation of his right leg.
Court documents reveal that Murray has a lengthy history of traffic violations dating back to 2016. Among her record is a 2019 hit-and-run case where she pleaded no contest. At the time of this recent crash, she was allegedly driving without insurance and on a suspended license.
According to the crash report, one of the victims followed Murray’s car to a nearby home immediately after the collision. At first, Murray reportedly denied being behind the wheel, but later admitted to driving.
Arsirii’s family has created a GoFundMe page to help cover his medical bills and rehabilitation costs. They shared on the fundraising page that Arsirii was in critical condition after the crash and initially faced the possibility of losing both legs. He underwent multiple surgeries and has a long, uncertain road to recovery ahead. The family also expressed concerns that he might not receive any financial compensation for what happened.
On Friday, during her court hearing, a judge set Murray’s bail at $280,000. If she manages to post bail, she will have to surrender her passport, avoid driving, and stay away from Arsirii’s family. She will also be required to wear a monitor to track her location and ensure she avoids alcohol or drugs.
The crash has left a lasting impact on Arsirii and his loved ones, who are now focused on supporting his recovery and adapting to the challenges that lie ahead.
