Elon Musk has faced criticism and accusations of being a “fraud” after playing the video game Path of Exile 2 during a live stream over the weekend. Despite being known for his impressive success and wealth, some experienced gamers noticed that Musk was making mistakes that seemed unusual for someone claiming to be among the top 20 players in the world.
While Musk’s character appeared powerful and defeated enemies with ease, viewers pointed out that he missed valuable items while exploring the game and didn’t manage his magic power (mana) correctly during a boss fight. These are basic mistakes that top-level players usually avoid, leading many to believe that Musk might not be as skilled as he claimed.
One gamer on X (formerly Twitter) wrote: “What an ego-trip… Elon Musk has been livestreaming himself playing an overpowered Path of Exile 2 character, pretending he got there on his own, while real players are laughing at his mistakes.” Another commenter added, “Elon Musk tried to scam his way into being liked in the game, but real gamers saw through it.”
It is now suspected that Musk may have paid someone to create his powerful character. Given his busy schedule, including visits to Mar-A-Lago, it would have been difficult for him to spend enough time leveling up the character himself. One professional gamer said, “@elonmusk is lying about his Path of Exile progress. He’s definitely playing on someone else’s account.”
Another player added, “People are now realizing Elon Musk is a fraud when it comes to gaming, based on his performance in Path of Exile 2. Meanwhile, Elden Ring players have known how much of a fraud he is just by looking at his character build.”
