GOP Lawmaker Slammed for Defending 'Bootlicker' Musk

Former Governor Chris Sununu (R-NH) sparked a storm of criticism after his appearance on CNN, where he defended billionaire Elon Musk amid accusations of a potential conflict of interest. Sununu, who once openly criticized Trump, has since changed his stance, backing the former president’s 2024 bid.

During a conversation with Dana Bash on CNN’s “State of the Union,” Sununu dismissed concerns about Musk’s influence, stating, “The guy’s worth $450 billion today. I don’t think he’s doing it for the money.” His casual dismissal of the conflict raised eyebrows and quickly became a hot topic on social media.

Critics didn’t hold back, with attorney Marc Elias calling Sununu a “fraud,” while former Congressman Adam Kinzinger labeled him “the most fake politician.” Even Adam Cohen from Lawyers for Good Government chimed in, pointing out how Sununu, like many others, avoids addressing the ethical concerns directly, instead changing the subject.

On X (formerly Twitter), former Rep. Joe Walsh expressed frustration, saying Sununu is simply saying what he thinks will keep him in the game, even if it’s not what he truly believes. Others joined the chorus of critics, including CNN’s Jim Sciutto, who questioned the idea of exempting the super-rich from conflict-of-interest standards.

The backlash highlights the ongoing struggle for politicians to navigate tough questions without losing their base. Sununu’s comments have certainly made waves—and not in a good way!
