Grand Junction Police Arrest Driver Involved in Serious Crash

A man has been arrested in connection to a serious two-vehicle crash that occurred on January 31 at the intersection of N 1st Street and North Avenue in Grand Junction, Colorado.

According to the Grand Junction Police Department (GJPD), a white van was traveling eastbound at high speed when it collided with the rear of a passenger vehicle that was stopped at a red light. The impact caused significant damage to the car, sending both drivers to the hospital with serious injuries.

After being released from the hospital, 37-year-old Ragnar Nickolas Kristl was arrested on February 21. He is currently being held at the Mesa County Detention Facility on multiple charges, including:

  • Vehicular assault – reckless driving resulting in serious bodily injury
  • Vehicular assault – DUI resulting in serious bodily injury
  • Driving under the influence of alcohol/drugs
  • Reckless and careless driving

The passenger vehicle’s driver remains hospitalized. The investigation is ongoing, and no further details have been released at this time.
