A tragic incident unfolded in Doraville, Georgia, on Monday afternoon, leaving one person dead and another injured after a double shooting in the parking lot of the Consulate General of Honduras in Atlanta. The consulate is part of a business complex located on the 6700 block of Peachtree Industrial Boulevard.
Doraville police received a call about the shooting around 2:30 p.m. When officers arrived at the scene, they discovered one person who had died from a gunshot wound. Another individual was hurt and rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Authorities have a suspect in custody and are currently questioning them, but the police have not released the suspect’s name or any details about potential charges.
Across the parking lot, employees of IVS Security, a locksmith company owned by Iftah Ben Sagi, were wrapping up their work when they heard the gunshots. Ben Sagi described the situation as “scary,” saying it hit too close to home.
“It’s just weird that it came this close to us,” he said. Concerned for his team’s safety, Ben Sagi decided to send his dispatch staff home early. “I’ve got dispatch, technicians, and office workers, and we try to make sure everyone is safe,” he explained.
The business owner, whose company has been part of the community for nearly a decade, noted how unusual such violence was in the otherwise quiet office complex. “I’ve never seen anything like that before,” he said.
At this time, it remains unclear if the victims were visiting the consulate or one of the other businesses in the area. Police have not yet shared the names of those involved, and the investigation is still ongoing.
The normally busy yet peaceful complex is now left shaken, with many in the area grappling with the shock of such an event.
