A Grifton man has been arrested on multiple drug and firearm-related charges following the execution of a search warrant by the Pitt County Sheriff’s Office. Authorities reported that 31-year-old Joel Swindell was taken into custody after law enforcement officers conducted a search at 475 Creek Shore Drive in Grifton.
During the operation, investigators discovered evidence leading to Swindell’s arrest on several serious charges. He faces two counts of trafficking heroin, as well as a charge for maintaining a dwelling, vehicle, or place for the distribution of controlled substances. Law enforcement also charged him with two counts of possession of a firearm by a felon, possession of a stolen firearm, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Following his arrest, Swindell was transported to the Pitt County Jail, where he is being held on a $750,000 secured bond. Authorities have not disclosed further details about the search, such as the quantity of drugs or firearms recovered. The case remains under investigation as officials work to determine any additional criminal activity related to the charges.
